The Laudanum Express, our most ambitious and exciting show to date, was a smashing success! With standing room only crowds at both shows, we feel the months of hard work really paid off. Through all the long nights at rehearsals, the laughter, the tears, the stress, the boxes of pizzas, and the bottles of wine, we never lost sight of the goal: to entertain our fans with our creative twist on the art of the tease. We are quite proud of how this show turned out and the warm reception it received from our Asheville fan base.
So to our fans from Professor Darius Diurtee, Corky Bordeaux, Cherry Oh!, Queen April, Britta Felterup, Adora Mia, and Lola Von Leu, thank you and we love you!

On February 13th, the Bootstrappers, along with our friends Keith Campbell of Forty Fingers and a Missing Tooth and Sneaky McFly of Unifire Theatre, spent the evening at the "Moulin Rouge." Caring For Children's annual charity gala, hosted at the Haywood Park Hotel in Asheville, was an evening of fine dining, auctions, singing, dancing, aerial artistry, and burlesque to raise money for this wonderful organization. Below is a link to the photos from the event by official photographer, Ryan Bumgarner. Enjoy!

The weather here at Bootstraps headquarters has thoroughly thwarted our last two attempts to entertain and educate our fans, but fear not! La Moustache and the burlesque workshops are being rescheduled.
Join the Bootstrappers at the Hookah Bar, here in Asheville, NC, for our mandatory mustache party, February 26th. Grow it, glue it, draw it, but a mustache is required for admission!
We're also planning to hold make up classes for anyone who missed the workshops. The date has yet to be determined. Stay tuned!
Oh, and the Laudanum Express is en route to Asheville's Club 828. Bootstraps' tribute to silent film is our most epic production yet! March 5th and 6th, the Glittering Dolls, the Professor, and our super special guests, Keith Campbell, Sneaky McFly, and the Carolina Music Band, will take you on a trip to the Far East and beyond... You never know where your dreams will take you!

Cherry Oh! and Corky Bordeaux made an appearance on the local news to help promote the Moulin Rouge Gala and, well, seems it was a bit scandalous. Read on to see what Cherry has to say about the art of the tease on local tv...
Woman Reveals Hands on Morning News
Today I learned that I am not allowed to remove my gloves on the morning news. The problem is that some middle schooler, between the crunch of cheerios, might have witnessed my strip from elbow to index finger and gotten the idea that such lurid behavior is acceptable.
Hands laid bare from the beginning do not hold the same mystery as hands swathed in inky satin, revealed at a slow pace. Although at first I was disappointed that my planned glove peel was deemed inappropriate when they had originally requested some high kicks can can style (bare hands compared to baring my most intimate article of clothing?), after some thought I found that they actually had a great deal of wisdom on the matter. They understood the power of suggestion, this slow reveal of velvet hands, red dipped, warm moisture of anticipation in sponge tips. On the map of the body, if one were to mark the distance of each extremity to the most sexual points of the body, hands would seem the furthest. Yet, their appeal is more in their quality's of action. Hands are not passive lovers. They are the verbs of the bodies erotic essays.
So often I hear "can you teach this burlesque class or do this burlesque show...but not strip?"
What if I strip out of my carhartt but keep on my bibs and snow boots? What if I make it more suggestive than an Andrew Blake film (Corkster that was for you)? What then?
-Cherry Oh!
In other news, Bootstraps has many surprises in store for you at our March show. In the photo below, Corky Bordeaux prepares to have a cast of her face made by the professor. It's safe to say that Darius Diurtee is professional awesome!

The Bootstrappers' latest show, La Petite Tease, which was a collection of our favorite acts, was a smashing success! This up close and intimate show was quite a change from our normal productions and we have to say we really loved it. Our wonderful Asheville audience makes all the hard work, bruises, and glitter in the eyeballs worth it. You guys are a rambunctious lot and we love it!
Many thanks to DJ Drees for working the music, to Keith of 40 Fingers and a Missing Tooth for being a guest star (and for making an emergency hairspray run!), and to the Grove House for providing the space for the show and the after party.
Photos and video coming soon!
And while we're at it, check out the photos of Bootstraps' own Britta Felterup from the October session of Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School. She's the sexiest zombie ballerina you've ever seen, guaranteed!
The next session is November 21st and will feature Bootstrapper, Queen April and Sneaky McFly, Seduction Sideshow performer and arch-nemesis of Professor Darius Diurtee. The entertainment level will be off the charts for sure!
Oh, and p.s... Photos from our Halloween show in Knoxville, TN are on the way!
(11-1-09)
Over the past few weeks, the Bootstrappers have been busy, busy putting together quality entertainment for your viewing pleasure. Our most recent event was the delightful Dr. Sketchy's Anti-Art School featuring the lovely Britta. This was our first session at a new location and the transition was a fantastic success. Photos from this event will posted soon!
Please join us again November 21st at Eleven on Grove for the next session featuring Queen April and Sneaky McFly (of Seduction Sideshow) as they bring scandal and intrigue to the Casino Royale! Doors at 6:30 pm, the drawing begins at 7:00 pm sharp!
"And you'll know the Bootstrappers by the mounds of glitter they've left behind."
Our Halloween show was a blast! Not our typical venue, but so much fun. Many thanks to 4620 Reinvented for having us, Soundtrack Black for sharing the stage with us, and to the the fabulous sound and light boys for following Queen April's directions! A special thanks to Sneaky McFly for adding a little spice to the sauce.
And because there is no rest for the wicked, we'll be back in Asheville, November 7th at the Grove House for La Petite Tease. This will be an upclose and intimate show, which will feature the debut of our two newest members. After the show, hang out and get to know the Bootstrappers at SHELLSHOCK at the Boiler Room, the official host of the La Petite Tease after party.
Oh, and p.s... There's a rumor going around that brand new cast photos are coming soon. Stay tuned!
